Pink Food For Valentine’s Day

Since we are thinking pink, make food pink! Just because we are chronically ill does not mean we cannot enjoy the delicacies of rich food. Adding color, like pink, adds a reason to enjoy delicious food.

Adding pink pigment to food makes it really fun for Valentine’s Day.

And it keeps it healthy so that we do not have setbacks just because we want to enjoy.

Sorbet (no dairy) or ice cream (made with coconut milk) and fresh or frozen berries make beautiful Valentine’s Day desserts that the most ill person can thoroughly enjoy.

If you don’t know how to make it yourself, go to a health food store in the freezer section and poke around for “dairy-free” frozen delights. You might even be able to find some in a local grocery store if they sell organic products.

Take a look and see what you can find. Remember that store-bought will have a high sugar content that is not preferable. Yet, we have to weigh what is best in every circumstance. You are the best judge of all the factors of your current day.

Most larger grocery stores will also carry organic fresh herbs that go well with sorbet or ice-cream. Mint or basil are two that I have used and enjoy. Both have a calming effect on the tummy.

Making our holidays fun, colorful and edible can give us a boost during chronic illness — without wiping us out from junk foods.
