Dream Big, Set Goals, Take Action

Sounds so simple. I have had more dreams than one person should have been allowed. Dreaming is fun. That truly is the easy part. Setting goals and taking action is where it gets a little sticky. We have to be realistic and at the same time be willing to extend ourselves to be able to reach those fantastic dreams of ours. So, what is realistic?

Realistic for me will be very different from realistic for you. I will have an obstacle you do not have but I will have a quality you might not have. You will have resources I do not have and you will have a skill that I could not even begin to master. We are all so different with different dreams and abilities.

When you find your dreams matching your reality you are good to go.

So, what is your reality? Be careful on this one. Someone else might tell you that you are just being foolish and it is not possible for you to obtain the dream you desire so deeply. You are the only one who can make this call for your life. You will be the one who lives with the disappointment of letting your dreams go or you will be the one who gets to live out your personal victory.

Most people’s dreams come true because they find it in themselves to reach and strive for them. The obstacles are tremendous so we have to look past what others might say.

I have had the exact same dream since I was 19 years old. That dream has evolved into different variations as I have matured. It has also been put on hold from time to time because of life events that required my long-term attention. The dream remained but it has taken its twist and turns.

Our dreams that can fill our souls are essential to follow. I would say with one exception; plowing over others to get to your dreams is the exception. In the end, I want to be able to say that I did not sacrifice family or loved ones or anyone at the expense of my dreams. Yes, there will be tremendous sacrifices to be made to reach our dreams, without a doubt. It is the relationships that are sacrificed that I have to stop and ponder.

What is the cost of my dream to others in my life? You are the only person who can measure this. Measure twice, then let your heart and your gut be your guide. If you are overly cautious you might miss out on your dreams which make you a fuller happier soul, making life better for those around you.

When it is appropriate, dream big and go for it.
