Squirrelly Fun

having fun during illness

It is the little things in life that make me stop, smile and enjoy life. Today it was some squirrelly fun…

Enjoying life outside and beyond chronic illness is super important. No matter where we are in our healing journey, engaging with life and our surroundings is important. It can even bring a smile to us.

A few months ago I moved my desk so that I could be more comfortable and look out of the two windows to enjoy life outside.

Today it was just downright fun, squirrelly fun.

As I was writing tomorrow’s blog about turmeric, I could hear and see the squirrels scampering up and down my pecan tree.

They get so busy that they make a bit of a racket that catches my attention. They jump from the tree to my rooftop and drop the nuts that roll their way down and off and plop in the yard.

I have been listening to this for 19 years now. I actually enjoy it.

It is the simple things that make me smile. That reminds me that life goes on. It keeps rolling whether we are ill or not. And it rolls best when we are on a healing journey.

Grateful that I moved my desk so that I could enjoy sights like these more.

What simple things in life make you smile?
