Jumping Into Blue-Mind Winter

jumping into blue-mind winter

Jumping into a Blue-Mind winter mindset supports us during the difficulties of chronic illness. Winter can be associated with isolation because of the weather. It can be a time of harsh realities and hardships with suffering. It is frigid and uncomfortable for many. So, what can we do with a Blue-Mind Winter to help us through chronic illness…

We can jump in with both feet and eyes open to the reality of chronic illness.

Life comes in seasons. Have you ever noticed that? When we are young and healthy it is summertime all the time. Then something hits us and we are plunged into a winter season as deep as an iceberg.

The reality is, we are in as deep as an iceberg and those winter seasons of life are good times to jump in with both feet and open eyes and do what we can to change ANYTHING in our lifestyles to help our health.

Winter seasons of chronic illness bring the reality of how awful it truly is. There is no getting around the misery of ongoing illness and disease. It feels like the Titanic hitting an iceberg.

But remember the story? There were a few who survived.

Is this winter season your opportunity to get on top of that iceberg, dance a penguin dance and say YOU are going to survive. YOU are going to do the hard work that it takes to be one of the survivors?

I know, you have already done the hard work and it didn’t work. Been there done that. I am totally shocked at how much work it takes.

It is like steering the Titanic. It is impossible to quickly steer a ship away from an iceberg. Instead, it takes slow steady steering, away from the dangers, and into safety.

Those small corrections on a large ship are not felt by the passengers. The same as your baby steps on your healing journey may not be noticeable at first. It takes a ton of baby steps to steer that ship away from the doom of the iceberg.

But each baby step counts!!!!

How Did We Get SO Ill?

It takes time to become chronically ill. It takes a lot of tiny circumstances that add up over time. Then our bodies start to slowly deteriorate and we don’t notice the force of the impact. We just don’t “feel well” but we keep plugging along, adding to the deterioration, from our “push-through” stress. Then one day, there is an event, emotionally or physically, that tips the ship over. We crash!!!! Then we add more stress just simply trying not to sink.

I was a sinking ship for decades and didn’t know the extent of it until I moved into a black mold apartment for a full year and totally crashed. I was that quickly sinking ship. Untreated lifelong Lyme came raging to the surface. Heart condition magnified to life-threatening within a few months. Thyroid chaos went into effect. Scary Titanic stuff!!!

The Titanic did not sink by one single act of hitting the iceberg. This is history folks, not Hollywood. There were a series of events that took place long before that fateful day when it hit and sunk.

  • Fun way to learn about the history to the fate of the Titanic, mini-series, not a documentary so it is more fun

There were events BEFORE the building of the Titanic started!!! Just like our parents and their parents, etc., contributed in many ways to our current poor health.

Not about blame — about taking responsibility for the sinking ship and doing something, ANYTHING.

taking chronic illness ONE step at a time

Don’t Know Where To Start?

Step 1 – Believe it is possible to be one of the survivors, that simple act can be what saves your life.

Don’t minimize the power of hope!!

Read others stories who have survived the worse of illness circumstances and gain hope by hearing how they rose above those circumstances.

Tune out the naysayers. It is possible to recover from numerous diseases and illnesses. If you are still breathing, there is still hope.

I survived numerous diseases while at the same time 100% heart blockage. Can’t tell me it is not possible!!! People are doing it, alive to tell their stories.

There IS HOPE.

The Penguin March

Step 2 – Lean into this winter season of your healing journey. Do the Penguin March!! Jump right off that iceberg and into the mindset that you too can do this.

This is totally wild and I love it. Blue-mind is the healing affects of water. Water also comes in the form of ice.

Activate your blue-mind and take the penguin march. Have fun while seeing the bright side of icebergs – the penguin side!! So much fun.

Anything that makes you smile (like March of the Penguins) calms your body which calms the chaos of chronic illness. Take the baby steps to find ANYTHING that makes you smile and be calm.
