Calming Underwater Exploration

Blue-mind; underwater around the world in one breath

Most of us won’t be doing any deep-sea-diving during chronic illness but we can still go there. We can release some of the stress by using our Blue-Minds. This is a beautiful way to calm the mind and body while in the safety of your home. This one is traveling the depths around the world in one breath.

Underwater exploration without an oxygen tank requires knowing your breath.

This can help you take notice of your breath.

Are you taking slow deep breaths?

Can you slowly inhale, filling your diaphragm not your belly?

  • Diaphragmatic breathing, or deep breathing, is breathing that is done by contracting the diaphragm, a muscle located horizontally between the thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity. Air enters the lungs, the chest does not rise and the belly expands during this type of breathing.

Can you hold it while imagining a dive into the calming waters of ocean exploration around the world?

Can you get to a point where you can hold your breath and at the same time feel your weightlessness caused by the ocean water?

Can you feel the healing effects of letting the stress go into the vast oceans of the world?

When it is time, can you slowly exhale, letting go of the things you cannot control?

Good job. Now give yourself a hug. Speak to yourself in kind ways to increase calmness and move through chronic illness with less effort and time.

Notice your breathing while you watch the following.

There is a part where he is underwater, under ice, and he pushes off the ice with his feet. He uses the problem (ice) as the solution (leverage to move away from ice and on to safety).

Chronic illness feels like we are underwater and drowning sometimes, stuck under an iceberg. Blue-mind can help us calm ourselves using water to rise above the circumstances.

Today we are using the depths of the sea. We are freely moving through the deep waters of illness.

We are facing our fears of illness through the sharks and finding the adventure of illness through the majesty of whales.

Put your Blue-Mind on and let’s go…
