Best Time, Best Energy, Best Results

When I don’t do things during my best time of day when I have the best energy, I don’t get the best results. I only have about 3 hours in the morning when I have my “best time” and then I run low on energy and results. Tickled to have the 3 hours in the morning, it has been a few years that I did not even have that. When is your best time of day to use your best energy to get your best results??

Chronic illness does not allow us to push through 12 hour work days, single-parenting, etc any longer. No matter what your life looked like before illness, it looks different now. Cannot change that fact.

As we adapt to the fact that we have chronic illness, hopefully we all settle into the rhythm of it and learn how to make the best out of what we do have.

There are stages to chronic illness: the knowledge that it exists in us, acceptance, adaptation, knowledge about our bodies and illness, and then hopefully healing from it. No matter where you are in this process, you only have so much energy, it is a limited resource.

Identifying Best Time, Best Energy, for Best Results

Some have bursts of energy at night and can suddenly come alive and get things done. Others shine in the morning hours. There are also some people with illness who have small bursts throughout the day. And of course there are times of chronic illness where our bodies have shut down and there are no bursts of energy to be found anywhere.

Identify where you are in this. Do you have a specific time of day that you have more energy?

I have the most energy in the mornings. It used to be that energy would be used up locating my body from the bed to the sofa. It was seriously that bad for a couple years.

After years of pouring in “nourishment” of all forms, I am solidly on a healing path. Now my mornings look very different than those dark scary years.

Now, I wake up feeling like I can conquer the world. Then I stand up and feel like maybe I can only conquer the day. Then I move around, start my daily health routine, and quickly slip into the reality that I actually only have a few short hours before I will be back in bed for the remainder of the day.

Choices Matter

I can choose to whine about the fact that I can no longer do normal daily activities or I can accept exactly where I am and make the best out of today. As I have transitioned from the fear and whining and into the utilization of the best results from the best time of day with the most energy, I have done so much better. Even my attitude has improved.

When I listen to my physical limitations, know my best time for best energy for best results, then I have success.

No matter where you are on your health journey you can do this too. Identify your best time of day and use up what energy you have during that time to get best results. Then rest!!!

That’s the key – know your limits. You don’t have to like your limits, but you will reap the benefits if you listen to your limits.

Pushing Limits

We live in a culture of pushing limits, we have been taught to push through everything. Well, how is that working for you while you are chroncialy ill?

Every single day I have 2-3 decent hours in the morning that I can be out of bed and have some activity. A couple of days ago I abused my limitations and made three videos as I went through my day with errands and a walk. I extended my day far beyond my physical limitations and paid the price.

This has been a good reminder for me to review my skills of utilizing Best Time, Best Energy for Best Results. If I would stick to the simple concept and then rest the remainder of the day then I would continue to build on the amount of time I have with energy to be productive. If I push too hard, it sets me back and I have to then recover.

Such a simple concept. Hope you are doing as I say and not as I do!!! Here you will see the droopy eyes, dark eyes, slower speech and the slowing down.
